Chapter 7 -The Ethnic Theory Of Plane Crashes

Ira Glass grew up in an area where kids were expected to be doctors , he had a different interest , he was interested in media. His parents were not pleased with his choice because they expected him to be a doctor after working hard from being poor to being in middle class, Ira Glass failed a couple times at his passion of producing shows but had an amazing talent for editing so it somewhat close to going against his cultural legacy because they worked hard so there son can become a doctor but he broke that legacy by going against his parents which they are more higher authority than him but he still decided to go against them and the legacy they tried passing down to him but he ended up being successful in the media business. Chapter 7 applies to his life because chapter 7 talks about how lower ranked people are taught by there parents to never question or go against there authority if they are higher power than you but doing that caused problems because being submissive and having lack of communication with higher authority causes people to be unsuccessful. The concept of this chapter applies to Ira Glass's life because he went against his parent legacy for him and questioned them that he did not want to become a doctor and instead he wanted to become a producer in media instead of being what his parents intended for him to be, That is why i believe the concepts of chapter 7 applies to his life story of success. That you do not always have to follow your cultural legacy just gotta get that equal power between low and higher rankings.
