Outliers -Chapter 6:Harlan,Kentucky
Soledad O'Brien is a successful Journalist that works for CNN, She left Harvard to pursue her passion and worked her way up from production assistant to her first reporting job in San Francisco , Soledad has a proud heritage when it comes to her job and that is striving to fight back and wanting the best for herself and will not be insulted easily , when she is in the moment of writing a story she does not give up because it will pay off later on and her pride is what makes her take jobs that will test her limits and refusing a no for an answer when she is on the job. I believe the concepts of chapter 6 applies to Soledad O'Brien's life because chapter 6 explains about two families that are constantly fighting and killing each other because of cultural Honor meaning to eliminate anybody that threatens whats there's and also use it to create a type of fear to get what they want a legacy that is passed down generations from generations and it is similar to O'Brien's life because its cultural honor that she does she eliminates anything that gets in her career and fights back not like the southerners but in a calm and manner way to get what she wants and the legacy was passed down from her mom when she was young and it inspired her to do journalism that was perfect for her to use those rules of honor to become successful in life and in the journalism career . That is why i believe the concepts of chapter 6 applies to Soledad O'Brien's life.
