Outliers-Chapter 5 The Three Lessons Of Joe Flom
John Jacobs was Co-Founder of "Life Is Good" clothing and he was successful because as him and his brother were starting off ,the traveled the country in a van selling there t-shirts that they designed but only problem was they were not selling enough to make enough money. Been doing it for 5 years so they started paying attention to the people so they could see what kind of art they liked and did not like on there shirts, One day when John and his brother were at a party they found a motto "Life Is Good" They liked that phrase so they put that phrase on there clothing with art that people liked on there shirts and from there they found financial success and created these little fundraisers in there home town to give back and help the people in need in Boston. This relates to the concepts of chapter 5 because the chapter was based on three lessons , the 1st one talked about the more a specific group becomes well known the more they will need you for specific tasks and the 2nd lesson is Location , its important the time and place and the 3rd lesson is using these three qualities Autonomy,Complexity and The connection between effort and reward, Using those will make your work more enjoyable and endurable. This relates to John Jacobs and his brothers story because they started off not being known and after realizing the type of art people have on their clothing they started getting to be known they started selling a lot of there clothing and they found a festival that made them realize that and that is where it started there success they were at the right place at the right time and they love doing what they do because they earn money to give back to their home town makes there work enjoyable.
